What I couldn’t tell you last week — due to the tendering process — when I relayed my appointment at Computas was that my first placement will be with Oslo Public Library, working with their development team on a linked-data-based library management system that will be behind the library systems in the new Bjørvika complex.

There are several exciting aspects to the project that make me really look forward to working with the folks in Oslo; they have a very clear idea of what they want to achieve, they have a good base team that is up-to-speed on and already works with the core technologies in library linked data, they have whole array of exciting ideas related to how bibliographic data can power interactive systems that bring value to users, they are also extremely pragmatic in their approach.

I’m also very happy to continue working with libraries, so this change in job is win-win.

If you’re not familiar with Oslo Public Library’s previous work, take a look at the Digital Deichman blog (it’s in Norwegian, but you can always Google Translate it ;-))
